Hunan Palace in Libertyville

I love this place, however, moving from Chicago back to Libertyville, I've realized that I've become a bit spoiled. Everything here is great, but when I order Lo Mein, I expect Lo Mein noodles instead of linguini pasta, especially for the price. Just keep that in mind when ordering!

I love this venue a lot. theres a very special air. The kitcen is exeptionaly good. the service is effective and the stuff is very professional. The cost is fair. truly recommend.

I eat in this spot a lot since I work close by. I like how their service is always excellent and they keep the spot clean consistently. Pricing is affordable and they serve generous portions.

Just know what your expectations are. I was hoping for a decent cuisine. This was way below par, lacking the complex flavors of good Hunan, Szechwan or Mandarin. Chicken with vegetables was in a watery, flavorless, brown sauce. Even the steamed white rice was disappointing. Save your money.

It's easy to miss Best Hunan (Libertyville) as it's tucked away in the strip mall near Jewel. Make no mistake though...this little Chinese restaurant puts out excellent american-chinese dishes. Nothing funky or fusion'y here just good straight up old school Chinese food. Fair pricing - big portions. Dine in (not the greatest atmosphere but not bad) or carry out. We usually carry out. We love their pot stickers, Kung Pao chicken and Orange Chicken. Give 'em a try. Inside tip - two people can split one meal, which means you can order extra apps. ;)

Just ok, not as good as the past

Interior decor is remnant of the 90’s. Food was ok. Came out nice and hot, but a bit flavorless. Service was very quick. Lots of refills of water, but charged me for a refill of coke without asking. I’d come back if I was close and craving Chinese.

I don't know what all the rave is about this place. I mean it was fine, but I'd call it your average chinese restruant. Decent food, but nothing special.

We were in the area for a craft class and decided to stop here because it was convenient. We came in a little after noon on a Saturday. The atmosphere was nice, the service prompt. We had our soup within ten minutes of sitting down, and our entrees arrived just as we finished the soup. I had Mongolian beef, fried rice, egg drop soup, and crab Rangoon. My friend ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, egg drop soup, and an egg roll. The food was good, more authentic Chinese than you usually see in a strip mall restaurant, and the portions were generous. We both took leftovers home. I would definitely go here again.

Stood and waited for 5 minutes and no one came out to greet me. 3:15 on a Saturday afternoon. Went across the street to Panda Express and was immediately greeted. Wish I had been able to eat at human but I didnt have the time to wait any longer.

The best Chinese food around this area. This place has been here for years and the staff is wonderful

First off, this isn't a "Dining experience" it's good place to get decent take out and that's about it. That being said, I've always had great service and good food. The few times I HAVE eaten at the place wasn't terrible. It's just not anything special.

Hands down best Chinese food outside Chicago. Amazing food. I don't think you could go wrong.with anything you choose. Meat is extremely tender and very fresh. Good portion size. Tastes amazing. Quick and friendly service.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th visit now. Same impression. Excellent Mongolian Beef.Simple, great tasting affordable food. Honest and real. Impressively clean tidy men's restroom. Clean, quaint, prompt service. Amazing value for a quick lunch. With my lunch special, i oredered Governor's Chicken which comes with egg roll or crab rangoon and your choice of soup. I chose hot and sour. The quality of the food and the freshness surprised me the most. It was freshly made, hot and steamy. I prefer Chinese food to order over buffets any day. I will be a repeat customer and happy to recommend this family owned business.

The customer service is constantly fast, excellent mood, nice staff members. Will visit again when I get in the area.

Great Chinese food. I've always enjoyed Hunan Palace in Libertyville. I typically order the Empress Chicken with an egg roll. It's fantastic, fresh and very large portions. The decor is nothing exciting, but come on, it's Chinese food! You're supposed to get take-out anyway right?Highly recommended.

One if our favorite restaurants! We drive 35 miles now to come here, so we don't get here as often as we would like. Excellent food and service.

Excellent Chinese food. I recommend the egg drop soup, dumplings and all of their noodle dishes.

By far the best Chinese restaurant I have found in Lake County. For the first time we finally had great authentic egg rolls and fried rice. The Chinese restaurants in McHenry, Fox Lake, Antioch and Round Lake don't have a clue how to make good Chinese meals. Hot and sour and Wanton soups were so flavorful. Short of having to go to Chinatown we now have a nice place to go within short drive from our home.

Great Chinese food with very low price. you can get a dish, rice, soup for 6-8 bucks. highly recommend the hot and sour soup and the seafood combo
